Amyre Loomis
Amyre Loomis is finishing her MFA in Creative Writing at the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University where she has worked as a teaching assistant. Born and raised in Detroit, she currently resides in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. She holds a BA in English from the University of Michigan and completed a BFA in Studio Art at Richmond. The American International University in London, and the Royal College of Art with a concentration in photography and art history. She recently received a certificate from Malik Yoba’s The Working Actor program at LIU. Amyre earned a living as a communications director for the New York City Council this past decade and volunteered as a reading/writing buddy for the public school system. Now, she donates her creative and media skills within the faith community. Her digital technology skills have been enhanced and upgraded by her studies at LIU and she will utilize them in her future endeavors. Amyre is published in the Downtown Brooklyn Journal, the Brooklyn Paramount, One World Magazine and authored a poetry column for a Detroit newsletter.
